Brett Abrams

Brett currently studies journalism at Boston University.

At BU, Brett writes for the Daily Free Press — the independent student newspaper at Boston University. Brett served as the sports editor in the spring of 2023 and the opinion editor in the fall of 2023.

He is a senior writer and columnist for the Daily Free Press. Brett was awarded the Society of Professional Journalists Region 1 Mark of Excellence Award for Sports Writing in 2023. Check out the article here.

Brett currently works for MassLive as a Sports Reporter covering high school sports around Eastern Massachusetts.

In high school, Brett wrote for Tideline, the student newspaper at Palisades Charter High School. He was also the publication’s sports editor during his senior year and worked closely with Tideline’s advisor, Lisa Saxon –– a pioneer for women in sports journalism.

Brett began his pursuit of a journalism career after attending the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism Summer Camp in College Park, Maryland. There, he learned the fundamentals of sports journalism from a group of experienced journalists led by former Washington Post sports editor George Solomon.
