About Me

Brett Abrams

I currently study journalism at Boston University with a specific interest in sports media.

I began my pursuit of a journalism career after attending the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism Summer Camp in College Park, Maryland. There I learned the fundamentals of sports journalism from a group of experienced journalists led by former Washington Post sports editor George Solomon.

In high school, I wrote for Tideline, the student newspaper at Palisades Charter High School. I became the publication’s sports editor my senior year and worked closely with Tideline’s advisor, Lisa Saxon –– a pioneer for women in sports journalism. Working with her taught me how important it is for a journalist to always seek and report the truth.

I also worked as an intern writer for the Palisadian-Post. That experience pushed me out of my comfort zone as I was assigned to write about topics outside of sports.

During the summer in 2022, I held a position as a social media intern at Belly Up Sports, where I created and sent out a newsletter twice a week. I also published articles about professional sports and promoted content on social media sites such as LinkedIn.

As a journalism student, I continue to write outside of the classroom. I cover BU sports for the Daily Free Press –– the independent student newspaper at Boston University.

This website serves as a home for all my work published throughout the years. I also use this site to publish my own independent pieces spanning a wide range of topics.
