Versatile players are a luxury in the National Football League. There might not be a more versatile player in the league than former Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey’s phenomenal 2019-20 campaign showed just how versatile he is. He scored 19 total touchdowns and racked up 2392 yards –– the third most yards from scrimmage in a season in NFL history.

The window to make trades in the 2022-23 National Football League season closed last week on Nov. 1. Historically, the NFL trade deadline hasn’t provoked the amount of activity other professional sports leagues tend to experience. However, the 2022-23 deadline sparked more player movement than in recent years. Here are three trades that impact the NFL landscape this season.

Heading into the 2022-23 National Football League season, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs were projected to dominate the AFC. So far, they have lived up to the hype. The Bills have the best record in the conference at 6-1 with the Chiefs right behind them at 5-2. 

The 2022-23 National Football League rookie class was slow to make an impact on the league. However, as midseason quickly approaches, more and more rookies are beginning to make their mark on the league. Here are three rookies to pay attention to for the remainder of the season. 

When Ron Rivera took over as the head coach of the Washington Commanders, he faced a near impossible task. The franchise was under pressure to change the team name and logo for its insensitive and demeaning portrayal of indigenous culture. The ownership was also under fire for allegations of workplace misconduct. On the football side of things, Washington was coming off of a three-win season.  

Russell Wilson has been an elite quarterback in the National Football League for the past decade. In his 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson won the franchise’s first Super Bowl and is Seattle’s all-time passing leader.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the more impressive teams in the NFL so far. While they are not bonafide contenders, Jacksonville’s recent play has shown that they are on track to be a consistent playoff team in the AFC. 

Washington Commanders’ starting quarterback Carson Wentz played against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, for the first time since his departure in 2021. The divorce between Wentz and the Eagles was anything but pretty. So when the Commanders were scheduled to play Philadelphia in Week 3 of the 2022-23 season, all eyes were on Wentz as he faced off against his former team. 

Miami Dolphins’ third-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has the National Football League world buzzing after throwing six touchdown passes in a stunning 42-38 comeback win against the Baltimore Ravens.  Tagovailoa entered the NFL in the 2020 Draft as the fifth overall pick. Since then, his career has been plagued with injury and disappointment.
